Here’s a classic crab cake recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of lump crabmeat, picked clean of shells
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Lemon wedges and tartar sauce for serving
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crabmeat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, green onions, red bell pepper, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into crab cakes. You can make them whatever size you prefer, but about 1/3 cup of mixture per cake is a common size.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
- Carefully place the crab cakes into the hot skillet and cook until they are golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the crab cakes hot with lemon wedges and tartar sauce on the side.
