Chopped Italian Sub Recipe

A recipe for a delicious Chopped Italian Sub:

Ingredients:

For the Sub:

  • 1 large Italian sub roll or baguette
  • 4-6 slices of each:
  • Salami
  • Pepperoni
  • Ham
  • Provolone cheese

For the Dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sliced banana peppers (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dressing:
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
  1. Assemble the Sub:
  • Slice the Italian sub roll or baguette horizontally, but not all the way through.
  • Layer the salami, pepperoni, ham, and provolone cheese evenly inside the roll.
  1. Add Toppings:
  • Stuff the sub with shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onions, black olives, and banana peppers (if using).
  1. Drizzle with Dressing:
  • Drizzle the prepared dressing over the toppings inside the sub.
  1. Season and Close:
  • Season the sub with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Close the sub by pressing the top half of the roll down over the ingredients.
