Ingredients:

  • Baguette or Italian bread
  • Ripe tomatoes (2-3)
  • Fresh basil leaves (a handful)
  • Garlic cloves (2-3)
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices. Place them on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. Toast the bread in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  4. Dice the tomatoes into small pieces and place them in a bowl.
  5. Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.
  6. Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the tomato and basil mixture.
  7. Drizzle the mixture with olive oil, and if desired, add a splash of balsamic vinegar for extra flavor.
  8. Season with salt and pepper according to your taste and mix everything together.
  9. Allow the tomato mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to let the flavors combine.
  10. Take each toasted bread slice and spoon some of the tomato mixture onto it. Ensure each slice is generously topped.
  11. Serve the bruschetta immediately and enjoy!

Feel free to adjust the ingredients and seasonings to suit your preferences. Bruschetta is a versatile dish, and you can also experiment with toppings like mozzarella, prosciutto, or olives. Bon appétit!
