Salt Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Using a tablespoon or a cookie scoop, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Gently flatten each cookie with the bottom of a glass or the palm of your hand.
  8. Sprinkle a small amount of coarse sea salt on top of each cookie, pressing it lightly into the dough.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
