Margherita Pizza Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Tomato sauce
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can reach (usually around 475-500°F or 245-260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface until you achieve your desired thickness. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet or a pizza peel if you’re using a stone.
  3. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Tear or slice the fresh mozzarella into small pieces and distribute them over the sauce.
  5. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Drizzle a little bit of extra virgin olive oil over the pizza.
  7. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the preheated pizza stone).
  8. Bake the pizza for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted and slightly browned.
  9. Once the pizza is out of the oven, tear or chop the fresh basil leaves and sprinkle them over the hot pizza.
  10. Allow the pizza to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
